Hi,

What do you folks out there think are the best mods for more power, better suspensiom, and better brakes?

Engine:
1. There's the new air cleaner lid ... 10-15 RWHP?
2. Does an aftermarker MAF really do anything?
3.

Suspension:

Brakes:

The cheapest, easiest, most effective HP increase I've seen is an aftermarket air lid and filter (back to back tests on my car showed a 15rwhp gain). You can get SLP's lid for $100...money well spent. I've heard of mixed results from the aftermarket MAF...the consensus seems to be that it doesn't offer much until you do something with the heads, cam or headers.

Brakes - Your options are almost endless and will depend on how much of an improvement you want. Do you just want to reduce your chances of warpage? I hear Autozone sells a good replacement rotor for $38. Beyond that, you have KVR, PowerSlot, Baer Eradispeed, etc. replacement rotors. Or you can get the LG Motorsports big brake kit that replaces the front rotors with 13" discs and relocates the stock caliper.

Suspension - Too many choices to list. It will all depend on what you want to use your car for...drag racing, autocross, road course or street.

Is this the Greg I think it is? If so, I'll probably see you tonight at the cruise-in.

Well, as you've seen on our car, we have the MTI clear lid. That's fine for something that looks different, but I'd probably recommend SLP's lid since I've heard others complaining about cracks in their clear MTI lids. It's all a matter of what kind of look you're going for. The h.p. increase seems to be pretty close to the same among the different lids.

As far as a MAF, it seems like a lot of money to spend. I don't know what kind of a difference it'll make to justify the cost.

Suspension: We put Eibach springs on it and SLP LCA's & Panhard Bar. We're happy with them, but we aren't running our convertible at the track so we can't give a comparison to it's performance there. On the open road though, everything is fine. You may want to get OBSSD's opinion on suspension. He's done a lot of research and thought in that department, and depending on how you're going to be using the car, the info OBSSD has may help make the decision for you on what suspension package to go with. The Bilstein setup is a favorable one and I think you'll find some comments from poSSum on that subject, too.

Brakes: We have GT Rotors, but the hot ones lately have been Baer Eradispeeds. Steve da Wrench will be able to recommend pads.

I assume we'll see you at the Friday Night Cruise tonight? We can throw out some more ideas there.

Hi SS folks,

Yup, ya' caught me. I was fishing for some comments from other owners, but then went and ordered some stuff the same afternoon. Ordered the SLP lid, cold air, and filter from Steve Da Wrench, revalved Bilsteins to use with the stock springs, and a 36mm solid front sway bar. Some of the rest will have to wait. I'll have Steve install this stuff when it all gets here as well as align my SS the right way. Was good seeing you all Friday night.
