Suggest you refer to your owner's manual, pages 6-46 and 6-47 for the intervals. Basically it says to rotate approx 6-8000 miles. Use the rotation diagram on page 6-47 for proper tire movement. On Z28s with GS-C tires, you go from front to back, staying on the same side of the car. The tires are directional, meaning they are designed to perform best when rotating in the direction of the little arrows on the sidewall.

I don't rotate them... The front tires usually last about 60,000 miles for me, and the back ones 20,000 So its cheaper to buy two than four!

Ha ha, so what are you trying to say? Why 20K in the rear. Traction challenged? Ha ha.
Still have to buy 3 sets in the rear to the one in the front. It comes out the same doesn't it?
IF you rotate and get 30 out of each, it is 8 tires in 60K. Never mind, don't make me think.

Well I think it probably will be a good idea just to go ahead and rotate them now. 5K + or - a few miles probably won't hurt. Always helps to get some extra input. Posts: 19 | From: Aiken | Registered: Sep 2002

My rear tires wear down really fast and thinkning fo replacing them already before winter comes. They only have 13k miles on them. Guess you can say I like making those tight turns.
Take a look at the one pic in this album of the tire wear.....Eeeek! Oh well....

5k-7k works ok. . .make sure that you do, though, cause those soft tires that come with the SLP pkg., need it. . .

Dan P. I checked out the pics. The #18 looks like a postcard. Beautiful shot. I also checked the tire pic and it does look strange. Maybe too much air. I sure hope mine don't do that.

thanks for teh compliment. For some reason, I love taking pictures of my SS As for the tires, I know I make most of my turns pretty tight adn fast, hehe, so maybe that has to do with it and actually I think my tire pressure is pretty low so that may also be a reason. I'm keeping a closer watch on it now.

Seasonally - I flip them front to back in the spring. For some reason the rears wear evenly, the fronts wear on the shoulders Posts: 4222 | From: Winnipeg MB CA | Registered: Feb 2000

Actually I have an appointment at the local Chevy dealership to get the Oil changed and the tires rotated in the morning. I have, last odometer reading 5,243 miles on it. I haven't seen any unusual wear, so maybe she is lined up and balanced pretty well. I just hate taking it to the dealership. They assured me that they have Mobil 1 oil. We'll see how well they perform on this task.

I do mine every 3000 miles. I sometimes take them off between rotations just to clean the wheels and the wheel wells, but put them back where they came from unless it is rotation time.
I isn't really that much effort. I can clean the car pretty well in 3 hours including wash, dry, wax. If I clean the wheels and wheel wells, it's three hour forty five minutes. Not much extra effort if you're going to a car show anyway.

Well I just got back from them the dealership. First of all none of the Oil changers showed up this morning. The service writer had to call some in. They were confused as to what Saturday they were suppose to work. Then I got real nervous and almost took it home without getting the service done. But they changed the oil/filter and rotated the tires. I was watching like a hawk to make sure they rotated the tires front to back. They did. Everything turned out good and the car was clean with no grease smudges. I'm Happy.

Finally someone else who torques lug nut as to not mall the wheel, stretch the lugnuts or warp the rotors. Kudos to Teri Posts: 159 | From: Westfield, Massachusetts | Registered: May 2002

I rotate mine every 3000 miles when I change the oil. I know they SAY you can go longer between oil changes (especially synthetics ... I use Valvoline SynPower) and tire rotation, but this is MY Camaro SS, and that's the interval I use.
It's really no big deal. I can jack it up, clean the wheels and tires, and rotate all in under one hour, so I can't see putting it off. I torque to 100 ft-lb. when the car is back on the ground, in a criss-cross pattern so as not to warp the rotors.
Cheap insurance against premature tire wear.
