Well... the manual reads:

quote:

Err (Error): If this message appears on the display and/or the disc comes out, it could be for one of the following reasons:
If you’re driving on a very rough road. When the
road becomes smooth the disc should play.
If it’s very hot. When the temperature returns to normal, the disc should play.
 The disc is upside down.
It is dirty, scratched or wet.
It is very humid. (If so, wait about an hour and
try again.)
If the CD is not playing correctly, for any other reason, try a known good CD.

Press RECALL to make ERR go off the display. If any error occurs repeatedly or if an error can’t be corrected, contact your dealer.

Have you cleared the message and tried a different disk? You may have to take it to a dealer. It would be covered under the warranty if you are still under 3yr/36mo. Good Luck!

I read the manual and did everything it suggested before I posted a message for help. The unit was working perfectly and then just stopped. Could there be a fuse blown or something? I hate to take the car back to the dealer. I HATE DEALERS! They will give the car back to me with more problems than I have now.

If the mechanism accepts the disc (sucks it in when you insert it) I would assume that the fuse is still good. It sounds like the player is toast. By the way, what the heck is a "Camera SS"?

That's what you get when an SS marries a Z06 - close but not quite right. And it's all Gino's fault. [Big Grin]
(see 'Back Porch' for details). [Wink]

The unit is not toast.....it just starting working again....computer had to reset itself.

A camera SS is a VERY FAST Camaro SS which will beat anything you got!!!!!

Yea, I bought a 99 w/out the trunk mounted CD player. I subsequently bought a player however the radio/CD could not "read the signal from the player" sheesh, computers are great when everything matches perfectly, the battery is charged and the stars are all alligned perfectly, what I'm trying to say is, is that in GM's infinate wisdom they have programmed their computers, radios and CD players with somtimes conflicting code to thwart piracy from year to year, coupled with using some old parts left over from the previous production run. Add to the equasion that a low battery or extremely cold weather can cause havoc with computer signals and you have a problem waiting for a place to happen.

Actually, what happens is if you have a 99 and early 2000 that has the dash mounted CD player, it will not control the CD changer. You have to update the player in the dash to one from a (I think the date is approx)May 2000 or later car, and it will work. I did this in ours and it works fine. I tried an earlier one, and it would not.

SteveDaWrench is right on the money, I basically did what he advised and it worked, I replaced the "stock head unit" w/ one from a later car and it worked, I ordered the changer through,www.radiosandmore.com, they were very acommidating they even allowed me to "trade my stock head unit for a compatible one. Good luck
