I have just purchased and 02 LS1 out of a Z28 Camaro. I am just looking for any help or hints for this installation. What kind of mods does the ECU need, i heard there was some kind of anti theft deal, if you don't have the factory ignition and key the bastard won't start.
Generally I need all the help I can get about anything that could be a potential problem no matter how small. All help is much appreciated. Thanks, Noel.

It can and has been done. Look for a Year One catalog (800/950-9503) or log onto www.yearone.com or find a Hot Rod magazine September 2002 pages 20-21. It includes the engine swap to rack-and-pinion steering. Please keep me updated with your progress on this project. Good luck.

Thanks for the info USA-1. I have checked out the web site and found a bunch of useful pictures, I wish there were some text explaining things a little better though. Still it shows it can be done, and puts the fear of god into when i saw the pictures of the wiring inside the car. lol. I'll do my best to keep posting updates. Maybe i'll get a digital cam and post some pics as I go along. Thanks.

Yes, keep us posted! I would like to do the same swap.

Also, check with Street and Performance, they have engine mounts for the LS1 which allow bolting it to stock motor mount stands. They also have TONS of other GM fuel injection stuff, and lots of LS1 stuff. Good luck on your project! [Smile]

...Sounds like a great project, ...keep us posted. I have a '68 conv. project (basket case right now) that (when I get to it) I'm going to look into installing a 700R4 trans. I've seen a couple write-ups about this when you get to that point...

Best of luck

Now THAT'S cool!

I would just LOVE to pick up another 1st gen F-Bod. and do a full current drivetrain.

I am so jealous!

Just to update those interested. I have picked up the motor and tranny from Tennesse (a 3800 mile round trip) and have found a place for it in the garage. I still have alot of body work to finish before I get to tackle the cool stuff. The only major piece missing in this puzzle is the IRS out of a 86-94 Corvette. Anyone got one they want to get rid of? Hahaha. Once I get some pictures scanned I will post them, but its in rough shape right now. Cheers for now.
