It appears I've been leaking tranny fluid for a month or more...essentially since I installed my Ripper shifter.Last night, I took it apart to make sure the gasket hadn't given out. The gasket was still good, there was a bit of fluid around the edge, but not enough to indicate that it was leaking down the sides or anything. I buttoned it all back up set aside for today.
At lunch, after we ate, I came back out and took a peek underneath - it was still leaking! It's leaking almost directly below the shifter so it has to be related. Not a lot, but a quarter size drop or two every time I park...enough to worry about!
I used the proper gasket maker (Red high Temp 650), used a nice small bead all around the base, didn't get any in the bolt holes. Everything is tightned down very tightly...I don't know how it can be leaking.
With the Ripper, you have the option to install the little bolt plates with the dot facing towards the front or back to adjust the shifter position bias. I installed them with the dot facing back, which the instructions state is the stock shifter position. If you swap these around so the dot faces forward, the shifter has a more rearward bias according to this. Has anyone installed their ripper this way?
My next move is to take it to the dealer to make sure it's not the front seal or anything.
Anyone have any ideas?
