Figured some of you not interested in the GM woes thread might be interested in a little data. GM is outselling Ford on the car front but hasn't caught up yet on the light truck front.

If I read the GM sheet correctly, it seems to me that GM needs to consider killing other cars before the Camaro. The Firebird is whats holding it back with ITS decrease in sales. Look at the Buick Riviera down to a wopping 56! The Sabb line can be destroyed all I care, they are all falling and the same goes for the entire Buick line too. The Lumina went down from 93k to 42k and they sold ONLY 1k Cutlass'! Correct me if I am wrong but they need a swift kick in the @ss! Save the Camaro and kill everything else! It even outsells the stupid Vette.
Don't get me wrong, I might have read that wrong so correct me if I have.

Just remember GM has a lot to gain by throwing money into SAAB. Only down 2.4% is not bad.
OLDS & Buick can be killed off as the biggest losers.
And Derek, they HAVE to kill the f-body's. They won't pass safety tests in the future. People are selective in what they buy. GM must sell what people will buy. Don't you get it yet??
You guys just don't stop do you.

They won't kill the Saab line, there adding new models, and the Saab drive train will be used in some GM products in the future. Saab really only has 2 models 9-3 and 9-5 of course there are different variations of those models Viggen, wagon, and convertible. With a couple other models the company could do real good.

I don't have any details, but as I understand it there are new crash regulations coming down the pipe that the current F-body can't pass without major redevelopment.
If you read "All Corvettes are Red" it covers how it was critical that the C5 be ready for '97 as the C4 could not meet the '97 crash regs (the new side impact stuff at the time) without a major and costly rework.
