Got the Black Billet grill and '69 SS grill badge. Now I need to bend the badge to fit the grill. Obviously I do not want to melt the paint or break the badge.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Instead of bending it can you file/grind off some of the material on the back to match the contour of the grill?

Hi Chab, The difference in the angles of the badge and the grill are too great. The badge doesn't even come close to matching up with the billet. I was thinking of trying to heat the badge. But I am concerned about the paint.

I wonder if the '67 or '68 SS grill badge has less of an angle. (more flat)

XBCHBUM,

All I did was take a hair dryer to it and heated up real slow. Then very (carefuly) spread the SS emblem out. I did this about three times to get the right angle to fit the grill. This is cast aluminum so you need to go real SLOW....

hope this helps you out...

Paul

Hey Paul, Thanks! I will try that tonight.
Did you bend the mounting posts on the back of the badge also?

The tabs are going to spread out with the emblem itself. Can't be helped! You will break them if you try to bend the tabs (too much of a angle). Like I said this is soft metal and it can't be bent to far.

Good luck

As most know, I'am the first to do this combo.... I broke the emblem in half .. then just attached it to the grille using custom mounting metal plates with speed nuts .. then cut the studs flush with nuts using a cutoff tool.

Believe it or not the emblem broke straight and clean.

Thinking of a change thou .. maybe a red outline SS emblem ... or maybe a wings west grille.

I am waiting on my third badge from Year One.
I sent one back and cut one like Jim Did.The
third badge is on back order.I hope this is
the one that fits best.It's a 68 SS/RS badge.
I will post my results. It would be great if
RK Sport sold them in a package together.

That sounds great XBCHBUM. You will have to post a pic of the grill.

Has anyone thought to compare the SS emblem from a Chevelle with the one from a Camaro to see if the angle is different?
There might be a difference between years and brands, so don't just limit yourself to Camaro.

If you buy the SS badges from SLP you don't need to bend or break anything. Plus the grill image matches the other three on your SS now.

The SS badges are backed with high impact adhevsive which has not failed yet.
