Hi all, I am trying to change my sparkplugs and after taking a look, I could see that number 8 was going to be a problem so I would try that one first. 3 hours later, my hands are bloody and my forearms are all red. What a pain in the butt. Anyone got any suggestions?? I tried to cut down a spark plug socket so I caould get a short extension in there, no luck. I tried to get it from underneath. I have removed two coil packs and the air hose. Still can't get in there. I am totally frustrated. Anyone want to come over and help?? I pay well and have a refrigerator full of beer. I am counting to ten right now so I don't blow up the car. I'll check for responses later or tomorrow! Thanks in advance. It is a 99 SS

Thanks Mike I was on the right track. I just need the 1" swivel extension. I actually have the socket on the plug and couldn't get the ratchet handle on it. With a 1" straight extension I still couldn't get around the manifold and the 3" extension just plain don't fit. What a stupid planning job by GM on something that should be routine maintenance!

Your right about the bloody hands and scraped up forearms. I did the same thing went for the #8 first and after 4.5 hours of sweat and swears I finally found the right combo! Believe it or not I can't remember what I used for tools to crack it loose. I'm not going to enjoy the next time I have to change them. I can tell you this the last seven go real smooth. If thats any help to you. Sorry I can't be anymore help but I can drink the beer and give you some moral support. I'm use to the swears also.

Thanks Paul. I got it. I bought a swivel ratchet and some swivel extensions and finally got it. The rest weren't so bad. Now, I'm ready to drive. By the time the streets clear up, my hands will be healed! I think we should ahve a badge for anyone that changed their own spark plugs. What a pain, literally and figuratively.
