Jo and I want to plan a trip next December. We want to go somewhere hot, sunny and quiet. We have been looking at some of the all-inclusive clubs but have heard that they are overpriced for what you get. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Steve is right though, depends on budget. The best vacation I have ever been on was to Hawaii. I have not been to many places but I have been to Jamaica on an all inclusive package and I really enjoyed it but Hawaii was the best!! It really is paradise.

Ah, yes, I forgot about Hawaii. It has better weather than San Diego all year 'round. Kinda hard to drive there, though, unless you have a really big budget.

Are there any particular areas or resorts you would recommend? I know nothing about Hawaii and I am a bit leary about travel agents. I stayed in Maui (sp?) as well. It was very laid back. My cousin lives there (jeolous?? me??) so we did a lot of native things instead of tourist things but there was lots to do there. Beaches, sand, mountain biking at down from the top of a volcano, waterfalls, snorkling, scuba diving, etc., etc., etc. The best thing is that he works for Blue Hawaiian and we wnet on a helicopter tour. IT WAS AWESOME!!
Oh yea, we spent a day on a nude beach too! Don't tell anyone though. LOL!

I highly recommend Kaanapali Beach on Maui or Poipu Beach on Kauai...those two places are still fairly laid back yet not so laid back that there's nothing to do. And Haleakala Crater on Maui is an unforgetable experience to be sure...you drive up through the clouds to get there, then it's like being on the surface of the moon. Lahaina is a really neat kinda laid back party town there too. When you fly out there you'll probably go through Honolulu to get to the other islands, so you can spend a day there on each side of your stay and see Pearl Harbor and drive around the North Shoreand back to Wakiki...if you've never been there before it's quite entertaining seeing some of the places that were always featured on Hawaii 5-0...

We stayed at the Hyatt on Kaanapali Beach on Maui and it was awesome, very laid back, but you can get to a lot of activities very quickly (really some of the best snorkeling we found was right in front of our hotel!!). Actually, everyplace we went on Maui was pretty great.
The only place that I personally wouldn't stay (although very nice nonetheless) on Maui is up by Kapalu. We went up there to golf three times and it was raining every time (can you really call it rain there??, it's more like taking a shower outside ), even though it was sunny everywhere else.

ARUBA... ARUBA... ARUBA!!! I've been there 3 times and am now looking at timeshares...
Aruba is out of the hurricane belt, it only rains November-January, it's always sunny, there is plenty to do (water sports, casinos, night clubs, etc.) or you can just lay by the beach/pool all day without sweating because of the constant tradewinds...
Th first time I went down I paid $1256 per person for an all-inclusive including airfare, hotel, tips, 3 meals/day, unlimited drinks and non-motorized watersports...
