Someone on the LS1.com board is selling there factory CD changer. The seller claims it plugs into an existing harness. What I am interested in finding out is if this is infact true and I am also curious about how and where the changer mounts in the trunk. Do you guys like this option? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks Guys.

I have a 2000 'Vert SS with the CD Changer mounted to the left side of the trunk area.
If your car didn't have a CD changer when it was built, don't count on it having the necessary wiring harness. Hey, you never know until you look. I highly doubt it though.

That's one option I'd not get if I bought another. Too awkward to load and takes too much trunk space.

Thanks for the reply's! I spoke to the Mass Electronics technition (GM warranty approved) and he said that the CD changer is not compatible with the in dash CD player. He said that the CD changer has to have the in dash cassette player! Posts: 127 | From: Carlisle, On, Can | Registered: Sep 2000

I like mine. My Cartridges are usually sorted by types of music so I only change them when my mood changes. It usually takes me a while to get through 12 discs anyways.

Hi Dave,
I'm not sure about the in-dash unit not being compatible. My '01 SS has the in-dash unit and the CD changer and works fine. That's the way I ordered it. Maybe something changed?

Gee, do I have a cassette player in my car? I can't even remember. I have the changer and just load up twelve discs every month or so. I never even noticed a cassette. I'll have to look when I get home.

Compare your prices from the dealer vs. a stereo shop. Pioneer is the brand of magazine. It ran around $80 from the dealer.http://www.radiosandmore.com can give you a price.

My 2000 has the CD on the dash and the 12 disc changer and when the car was in the shop I found myself missing the changer and the steering wheel controls. I love it, especially with the Monsoon 500 watt system.
