He died doing his best to protect his son and team mate from attacks from other drivers. Sad day in motorsports for sure. Especially hard is the fact he played such a large role in the broadcast. It sure looked like he was having fun with that Grand Prix.

What a loss to the sport. I watched the race; when I heard the news, I cried. My prayers go with his family.

I still can't beleive this...I can't beleive Dale is gone. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Earnhardts and to the racing community. NASCAR will never be the same.

The SS 2001 Intimadator Camaro's will be worth their weight in gold now, what a treasure to have if you are an Earnhardt Fan. Having seen the SS from the drivers seat, I would give anything to have one. What a loss to us all that love auto racing. SLP#4340

What a sad day for NASCAR. A legend is now gone. #3 will always be in our hearts as a man who changed racing forever. Thoughts and well wishes to his family and friends. May Dale Jr. Find a way to keep his fathers traditions alive.
#3 Dale Earnhardt may you know your racing fans will never forgot you. Rest in peace
