Went to the local Chevrolet dealer to price out a new C5 vette. Noticed, they were all hit with $2K--$5K "adjusted market value", meaning "dealer markup".
Saw a 2001 SS T-tops....it also had a $2K "adjusted market value" add-on. Anyone pay over sticker to get their SS???
Guess the SS is in demand, if selling cars OVER sticker price.

They do that here in CA all the time. My local Chevy dealer has 4 SS's on their lot and all of them have an additional $3000 mark up. Only one of them has any Y2Y options too. That's one of the reasons I didn't buy my car from them, they're crazy or there are just really stupid people in my town that will pay that, I dunno.

If you are interested in a new SS I can refer your to a dealer that will sell you one under invoice. Over sticker is a joke on them right now. I don't know what he would do for a C5. He sold me a Z06 pretty much at sticker.

Can understand the 'vettes but F-bodies should not command any sort of premium ... take a look at the sales data ... GM February Sales DataPosts: 4222 | From: Winnipeg MB CA | Registered: Feb 2000

The Chevy dealer closest to me adds $900 to $2K of "Additional Dealer Markup" te every car on the lot. There are some folks who will pay it. For those who know better, the salesman can say he has discounted the car by that much and more.
FWIW, invoice is 91.5% of base MSRP, plus 89% of GM options plus 85% of SLP options. Start your discussions with your salesman at invoice, not MSRP or the dealer's inflated "sticker" price. Dealer hold back is 3% of MSRP. That's the profit the dealer gets even when selling at invoice, not counting other incentives form the corporation to the dealer.

The dealer where I get my cars is selling me my 2002 SS for $200 over invoice and will give me $1,500 off sticker on regular Vettes and sticker on Z06.

Any friends work at GM. Ask them to find out what the "employee" price would be.
My sister-in-law works at the transmission plant, and I can buy at employee price. It's about 10% off list price, with no dealer mark ups on. I'm sure the dealer is still making money.

I hate this kind of dealer playing around. A local dealer here has something like four or five SS with all the SLP options and a $3k "market adjustment" on every one. That makes the MSRP top out at something like $37k+ -- sorry folks, that's C5 territory.
Market Adjustment nothing more than simple price gouging and greed. Some of these dealers must think they have the only SS every built ...
Isn't it funny, though - GM is preparing to discontinue the f-body (temporarily) because slow sales, yet dealers out there are charging a premium for the top vehicle. Go figure ...

I ran into this last summer, when I was considering buying a PT Cruiser as a beater car. For a $16K - $20K car, the dealers were marking them up $5K. There was no way in hell I was going to pay a 25% markup over MSRP!!!
