I was bringing my SS in for her 1st oil change this morning and had a silver "sillycar" try to take off on me out on the highway. He and some other kid in an Acura Integra TypeR came up from behind. The Celica pulled in front of me, revved real hard and stomped on it. I dropped to 3rd, stood on it, pulled along side and hit 4th as pulled around, pulled back in front of the Celica, and then pulled 4 car lengths before I decided I'd made my point. I thought those things were supposed to be fast??? The Acura never engaged. After the humiliation, the Celica was content to stay put until I got off at my exit. Geesh!!

I wonder what these guys are thinking!! I had a kid in a Honda with a VTEC pull up next to me on the highway last Thursday, I was in my Z06. He looked over, revved up and stepped on it. I was doing 70 in 5th, I dropped to third, went to a little over 100 then backed off. I don't do that often but I was in the mood. We got off the same exit. When we stopped at the end, he rolled down the window and asked what I had in that thing. I said, "this thing just has a small block Chevy engine". He said, it's fast. He was totally clueless. He said, I have a VTEC in here. I said, "that's nice". It was actually funny. I don't rag on ricer's that are car enthusiasts, but I have little patience for people that challenge me on the road that have no knowledge of cars in general. At least have a clue before you sound so foolish. Oh, and just for fun, I smoked hom off the light, about 1/2 throttle.

I don't generally engage the ricers because let's face it, 90+ percent of 'em are in no shape to be on the road much less driven at speed. Most of the ones around here have more rust than shiny paint. They all have oversized wheels and tires, and of course the obligatory fartcan exhaust. As much as I trash talk Mustangs, at least they have enough of the right stuff underneath them to keep the shiny side up if the driver is not too foolish. I've seen many ricers resort to passing in the breakdown lane if they come up on traffic. I'm out of it before I get into traffic and when they do that stuff I let 'em go. Better to get ut of it than prove a point and cause an accident.

Andy

Hey Andy

I think Dan was just checking to see if the Z06 will need a K/N filter instead of the stock one.

Ha ha, already got the K&N. What I am wondering about is the Vortex! I think I will leave it alone for now. I have a long way to go to learn how to drive it.

AGMSS,
Your story was like dejavu to me. I had almoast the same highway expercience with a little bblack celice here in Chico,CA. We are a samll town so I see him a lot on the road but it's funny cause when he comes up fast from behind and realizes it's me now he drops way back and doesn't even try to pass

Before I got into f-bodies, I owned a black '87 Vette A4. I had modified the crap out of it including nitrous. There were a bunch of 5.0's in town at the time that always wanted to run. After I spanked each of them about 5 or 6 times, they would never engage again, no matter how hard I tried to get 'em to run. I figured one of 'em would probably go out and do a Paxton with nitrous or something to get me, but they never did. I always smile when I remember those days. The SS is a much more intimidating car than my Vette. The Vette would still smoke my SS in a straight line, but I would have had to use the nitrous to beat it. But to see it coming, it's a scarier car.

I pick my shots. I stay away from some cars because you get that "sleeper" feeling??? If I lose, I lose, but I won't seriously engage somebody that I know wayyyy out-powers me unless it's just to see how big the difference is and I'm not running to win.
