Well, I'll be here for the duration too, but the weekend is almost close enough to reach out and touch, so no big deal...just need to get 'er done As far as the portfolio goes, I just refuse to view my statements...I just throw them in the drawer when they arrive and I'll look at them after we've had some sort of recovery. On the flipside though, my wife has her money spread over 6 different Fidelity funds, including the more volatile ones like Magellan and Equity income, and her account is down a little less than 10% from its high this time last year. Not too shabby indeed...
...wonder if she'll give me a loan, since I just paid off the Eclipse for her??? Whadya think???
Hey, have a GR8 1 y'all...

I know it will recover someday. But it's not pleasant. It's the first time in 4 months I've even opened a statement. You know what they say about curiosity!

...hahahahaha...the ironic thing is that I picked out the funds and percentages for her. Actually, I'm pretty diversified too...I moved my money out of the more volatile funds I was in last May. Still, I know I've taken a pretty big hit, but four things you just need to remember to keep things in their proper perspective: 1. you don't lose any money if you don't sell...it's all a paper loss... 2. you never lose the number of shares you have...only their value changes... 3. if you're buying now you're getting some real bargain basement prices... 4. if you're in it for the long haul...like most of us are...and you're talkng about your retiremant accounts, this will be a small speedbump in the grand scheme of things...
...right now it seems the most pressing issue is being able to hold on to your job...
It's definitely been a white knuckled roller coaster ride...but like all rides, it eventually will come to an end.
Then it's time to get on the next one...

I agree completely, the only caveat in my case, is that I hold quite a few stock options in my company. When they have value, I sell them and spread it out. Right now, those are just sitting there vesting as well. Alcatel is around 30.00 it was as high as 80 and averaged in the 60's for a long time. I'll be happy to see 60-65 again. Then I can sell it and spread it around, including a new 3 car garage with high ceilings and a lift!
Right now, if pushed, I could fit 4 cars in my existing garage (the other toys would have to go) but I would rather build another garage in the back and keep my exisitng 2 car for daily drivers.
We can dream and must have goals, eh?? Now about holding on to that job, I better get back to work.

You mean I can't just sit here and wait for the stock value to go back up ????
