And I'll tell you why...my Mustang buddy and I drove to Vegas on Saturday...real early to stay out of the heat...we were there at 10.30am...
Sunday I collected my daughter Ashley from her plane and we spent the day touring around with friends...
That evening, my Mustang buddy noticed a bunch of F-Bods at an In-N-Out Burger...I drove in and talked for a bit...they had just come from an all day photo shoot at the Vegas SuperSpeedway...

web page

We continued over to Scandia Mini-Putt, where the guys and Gals were winding down...Ashley and I did the go-karts. We came out to head back to the hotel...I started the car...tried to select 1st and...NOTHING!!! It felt like the shifter was not attached to the tranny at all...
I FREAKED!!!
Went back and dragged Dave Horn, aka Snakecharmer...2000 SS Arctic White M6 Coupe...off the golf course...he took the cover off the boot, and there was the problem...a bolt lying beside Lou's Short Stick!...he tightened it by hand, not having a wrench handy, and we drove away...after profuse thanks!!!
I got hold of a wrench the next morning and had it firmed up...
Again, the LV F-Body guys were great...actually met Matt, the president and Dave, and some of the others as well...
If you're in Vegas...look 'em up...they'll treat you well!

Andy,
I hope you use a lockwasher with that loose nut.

The LV F-Body guys I met last January were great folks as well. Perhaps their choice of cars indicates other things about them?

There is a lockwasher on the shifter...but it must not have been locked down tight...I have the Short Stick so maybe it wasn't tightened enough in the change...

hey andy I'm glad to hear your car only had a minor problem with the bolt

My car is currently in the shop getting the ear end replaced. I took your advice and the advice of many other and took it to C&M and they are taking great care of my car. The guy was open and honest and gave me a call as soon as they found out whats wrong. Apparently I broke a tooth off the pinion gear and it was floating around. The service writer called me and said they are ordering me a new rear end and it should be here monday. Thanks for the advice on the dealership, thats where I am gonna be going from now on.

Hey, Collin!
I'm glad things worked out for you there. The guys in Vegas were fabulous and took good care of me. On their site, I posted the story and the very next few minutes had another post from the SS driver who came to my rescue...pretty awesome...!!!
Look forward to seeing you in the future at SDCC meetings...
or on the road!!!
I'll be moving to South County in October...do we know any SS drivers down there?
