Well, I finally found a dealership that will accept my GM Discount, the Legends Tour $1000 coupon, and my GM Card Earnings towards the purchase of a 2002 35th Anniversary SS. This is the first new car that I have ever bought, so I have some questions

You sure have a lot of cars for someone who has never bought a new car before. Congrats on ordering the 35th anniversary Camaro. Are you getting a t-top car or a convertible?

Sorry, fat fingered and hit the enter key by accident, so I submitted it too early. Here are the questions:
1. By placing a deposit down, what does that put into action?
2. They say I will, at some time in the future, have to select all the option packages I want. When will that be? I know I want to make sure to wait until the 345hp performance package is available to fill out that form.
3. The salesperson said that the 35th anniversary option is about $3000. Does anyone know for sure how much that is?

Thanks

I think that when you put the money down, they expect you to sit down with them at the computer to order the car.

If you order now, your build date (TPW) will be after August 1st, so you will get the lid if you order the exhaust option.

I heard that the Anniversary Option is somewhere around $2500.

You have made your initial deal from invoice and not MSRP, right? Otherwise they could skew the #'s and your discounts may not come out as such.

Teri, I didn't think I could sit down with them at the computer and order the car since the lid isn't even an option you can pick as of yet.

The Dual-Dual Exhaust option or Center Mounted exhaust option will automatically bring the lid with it if the build date is after 8/1?

I have not made my initial deal because two of the options that I want (the 345hp option and the 35th Anniversary option) aren't even priced yet. What is the difference between invoice and MSRP?

How confusing!!!

The lid will be part of the exhaust system and will go up a few hundred $ according to what I've read on SLP's message forum.
The way I understand it is if you order the exhaust, you automatically get the lid.

Make the deal for $XXX over invoice (not MSRP). We paid $500 over invoice for our SS (SLP content was at invoice also), but I'm seeing people order their Anniversary cars for less than that.
Read this thread: from the SLP forum

Also read THIS LINK for a description of invoice vs. MSRP

You want to negotiate from the invoice price to get the best deal. The rebates are outside of that and aren't factored in until you pick up the car. Don't let them jack up the MSRP to counter your discounts.

Well, I ordered it! Here are the options I picked:
- T-Tops
- Dual-Dual Exhaust
- 345hp Option (Air Lid)
- Auburn Rear End (I learned my lesson from blowing my 1LE's rear end)
- Bilstein Suspension System
- SLP Grille

Jenny Miller, the MI SLP rep, is bringing a 345hp 35th Anniversary model to the dealership (Les Stanford of Dearborn, MI) next Thursday. Maybe I'll stop by and see it.

Thanks again Teri. I guess I can't negotiate a price with the GM discount...it is pre-set. He said I should get an SS for about 28000 and pay about 33000 after all the SLP options.

Hey Teri,

Have you ordered your 35th Anni yet? I recall seeing in your signature line you had a deposit on a 35th. What kind of deal were you able to negotiate?

We had our deposit on the 35th refunded. We aren't in the market for a red car. If it had been yellow though..............

Bummer! I understand though. You either love the red or you don't.

Hey, you've got a great looking car anyway...

Hopefully the 5th Gen car will be a winner when it comes out in a couple years...hope, hope, wish, wish.
