My SS.

My 2000 SS has been flawless since birth. She has 23,000 miles on her today, with only one problem cropping up since birth.. the nasty window motor problem that rears its ugly head on every Camaro in the world. I have owned 4 different 4th generation f-bodies and every single one has had the motors on the windows go out.. other than that... my 2000 SS has been perfect.. she gets a lot of driving and yes.. from time to time some abuse... (vroom vrooooom!)

Anyway.. just wanted to say thank you to her for all she has given me the last 23,000 miles...

Check this out.. my 4 4th gen warranty report:

1996 Camaro V6:
35,000 miles in just under 2 years... mysterious check engine light having to do with a tranny slip condition on an automatic... sold car.. not sure what the problem was. Window Motors Twice.

1998 Camaro Z28:
11,000 miles in 5 months. Bad Tranny, Messed up syncro not allowing 3rd gear shift.. broken pushrod and window motors.

1998 Camaro SS:
31,000 miles in 2 years. 4 replaced air compressors... LONG STORY.. bad shutoff switch or something.. and 3 window motors.

2000 Camaro SS:
23,000 miles in 1 year and 2 months. Just one bad window motor... so far so good

I have the same mileage but a longer period of time...I got #31 November 25th 2000 at 12,000 miles...now I have 24,000! The main culprit lately has been 3 runs to Vegas this summer plus a trip to LA and back this week.
Black Beauty is running fine with no problems at all...and that includes windows, which, as I mentioned in a previous post, are slower than our Camry, but still run fine.
I'm starting early to look around for replacements for my BFG KD's...I'm hoping for a decent price but fearing the worst!!!

35,000 plus miles in 25 months ... with lots more to come this year ... have chronic pinion seal and related problems, but that has not taken away from a car that has opening up a whole new world of friends and experiences for me.

What else can you get that runs mid 13 quarters, is very competitive on the road and autoX course, easily gets 25 mpg(US) on road trips and looks as good for the money

I've got over 26,000 on my 2000 SS! She is running strong with onl a few problems.
I had a leaky pinion seal..but it got fixed.
My clutch pedal return spring broke...but it got fixed.
My drivers side door speaker rattles...replaced once but still rattles.
My drivers side window is slow...but still functional...probably needs replaced.
My steering rack is leaking.
The good news is the factory warranty is almost up. I just found out the other day that a friend in my local club can do the work on my extended warranty. No more dealerships for me!

Anyway, congrats to you and your SS!!

Anyone on here running KD's and looking to replace? If so, what prices did you find?

My 2K SS has a bit over 21K miles. Work so far (all under warrantee):

Coolant overflow tank cap.

Buzzy driver's door speaker grill.

No reverse. A few times, at speeds over 100 MPH, missed 5th gear. Apparently, the reverse lock-out did not work, wore the dog teeth. Service writer said this would have cost me about $1K if I was paying for it. The shift into reverse always was a bit vague, it is much more positive now. I've not tried the high speed shift into 5th gear since the repair.

Bad #1 spark plug wire. Showed up as a slight hesitation at under 2K RPM. This first started during my vacation last May. Even with 7 cylinders, I got 28 MPG on those tanks of gas with no in-town driving. I wonder what my MPG would have been with all 8? The engine seemed a bit weaker, but I blamed it on high altitude (over 5000 feet).
No SES light. I still wonder why.

Other than that, no problems. Window lifts, pinion seal, steering rack all OK so far. About half the tread left on the original Goodyear F1's. They look like they will last to 40K miles. Oil consumption is about 1 quart in 5K miles, my change interval. Overall MPG is a bit over 19. I have some wear spots on the driver's leather seat cover, but they are small. This is the first car I have bought where the front end was properly aligned at delivery (Thanks, SLP).

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the car so far.

Still no show trophies though.
