I've also done this and my Insurance covered it. I had to pay the first 300 for the deductable. GM should have a warning placed some where on the car, because this has happened to a lot of us.

Some policies offer a full glass coverage option, you should check.
This brings up and idea....there have been many posts about dos and don'ts over the year(s)like never raising the arms to clean the windshield, for new owners, this list would come in handy - thoughts?

I think this (a list) would be a dandy idea. I got goosebumps just reading what happened to Kevin. It's so easily done! I put the wipers up all the time and it's just lucky I haven't cleaned under the hood till later, when they were back down. I had a rock chip worked on by the windsheild doctor and it cost me $75. To replace is something over $500, and you don't get the factory install. I know the chip is there and it would get discounted in a show and shine, but I'm not prepared to give up my factory install just yet.

DOH!! I did the same thing last summer. The place I took it to get the windshield replaced charged over $900, but my insurance covered it and the repair shop waived my $50 deductable. Over $900............I think I'm in the wrong business!

I almost did it to my 99 SS one time too, but luckily I caught it in time. I can't believe I did it to my brand new 2002 SS, with only 1400 miles on it. Thanks for the price ranges guys. I left a message with my insurance and they should be calling me tomorrow to give me the info.
