I can't really tell from the pictures, but I'm trying to find out if there is any difference in the 2002 SS Hood Scoop (mainly the insert piece) from the 98-2001 models. We have an order for the "chrome" insert piece but he has a 2002 and was wondering if the same piece would work on his car. I think so...but don't want to be wrong. I'm sure one of you knowledgeable SSOA members knows the answer to this. Thanks in advance.

yes, all the hood scoops are the same from '98-'02. i asked my mechanic and trusted friend if there was any difference in the hood and he said no. i have an '02 and have a chrome grill on order too. that is how confident i am with his knowledge about camaros.

Thanks Nate & P.R.! I knew I could get the answer here. I'll go ahead and change the coverage dates on the order page.

P.R. - I see you are in Trophy Club. You are pretty close to me in Hurst! Do you ever make the local car shows/cruises? What are you replacing your Camaro with? I've probably passed you on the street.

Wouldn't surprise me if you have seen me.. I worked for a year at CompUSA there in the Business Sales group..I still go down there all the time... i am replacing my Z with an '02 Sebring SS, in the other thread, i posted exactly what i want, and possibly getting another used F-bod(Third gen, maybe...)and souping the snot out of it...
My car does look different now...the black moldings are gone...I sometimes go to shows, but I bought my Z used, and it has a couple for blemishes that make it not show worthy...I'll keep a look out, though...

P.R., I have been a frequent customer of the Hurst CompUSA. Sometimes too much! I can get carried away in there.

Sounds like you made a great choice for a new ride. I've had a few impulses myself lately to add to my Camaro collection...especially knowing the Camaro will be leaving for awhile. I went road racing last weekend and had a blast and find myself demanding more power and the Grand Prix just doesn't cut it. I looked at the SS in 1998 when I was buying a new car and at the time the back seat wasn't practical for me since I had frequent business passengers. I still love my GTP for the space reasons, the looks and the Supercharger sounds awesome, but every time I drive my brother's 99 SS I walk away missing the power and the 6 speed! I won't even let myself test drive a Z06...I would be sunk and in major debt.

BTW...we'll be happy to help you with anything you need for the new SS. We are a little behind in adding all the SLP products, but we have access to the full SLP line, Random Technology, Granatelli and many more to come. We could save you shipping costs on some items since you are local.

Great to know...The shipping savings mean I probobly will be a frequent customer...

And I do understand the business partner thing....Get tehm in teh back seat of an F-body, and you have ex-partners... At least you still have a VERY nice F-body to play with...Where do you go road raciing, Pendelton field at Central drive? I may be going down there at some point...

Hey P.R.,

Sorry I didn't answer your question sooner. I autocross with the SCCA and sometimes the BMW club. They go to both Pennington Field in Bedford and to the Mineral Wells airfield. There are several events scheduled in Oct./Nov. I've been waiting for the weather to cool down some. I just can't take racing when it is 104. My supercharger hates it as well. You should come to an event..my brother loves new SS/Z-28 competition.

That's right , PENNINGTON...My fault, i messed up the name...I have gone and watched at Pennington, and I have considered running...Is the SCCA the sanctioning power there? and is there a schedule somewhere....

sorry to break into your discussion, but I also live in the D/FW metroplex up in Plano. I am moving to Boston soon. Do either of you know someone in the area in search of a 99 SS in cherry condition? thanks.
