Just have to say it -- I think the Presidents' speech was excellent, with the appropriate mix of compassion and stern resolve. The condemnation of the Taliban and the demands set forth not only to them but to anyone who harbors and supports terrorism sends a clear message and sets a clear path.

I think the President made an excellent speech. There was no doubt he felt sincerely about every word he spoke. He took exactly the right approach to the Taliban, that this is not open to negotiation. Their threats of further terrorist attacks to me is just an admission of their guilt in the others. If they don't want to participate in the world community and instead continue to insist on foisting their perverted views on the rest of the world, then they will be held accountable for their actions. We have the power to wage terrible war on our enemies. Yet we will be patient, we will exercise restraint where we should, and we will be ferocious and implacable where we must.
I've seen the protestors on TV calling our own government terrorists and protesting any military action whatsoever. Like most people, I feel that their right to say those things was purchased with the blood of many generations before them and that if they lived under the Taliban and said such things, they'd already be worm food. I just hope our soldiers don't let themselves feel unappreciated by an ungrateful, unrealistic minority.
Good job, Mr. President!!

Just imagine how Gore would have handled any of this. Perhaps Bush's election victory came by divine intervention.
