My parents visited some relatives up in Conn., and my mom came back with a bottle of single malt scotch called Glen Morven. My aunt and uncle had gotten the bottle from someone visiting from the UK and, since they aren't scotch drinkers, gave it to my mom. However, I've been unable to find out anything about this scotch: even my scotch book which is very thorough, copyright 1997 or 1998, doesn't even mention this one. The scotch itself is a 12 year old: I've found one or two mentions on the web of a 15 year old Glen Morven, but nothing about the 12 year old. Anyone have any good web sites that might have something on this? Here's what I used:
I just had some Cardhu - very light - almost a fruity flavour. Still trying to come up with my favourite.

My favorite is Glenmorangie. I have yet to try the 18 yr old, but I love the 10 yr stuff.

Actually I've seen that, but never tried it. Of course, if I did try it, I'd have to work hard to not break down laughing. I would imagine snorting scotch through the nose, even a good single malt, is not the most pleasant experience.

The 18 year old is good, but not exceptional. I would recommed getting one of the 12 year olds - they make it with three different finishes: Port Wood, Sherry Wood and Medeira (sp?) Wood. (Finish refers to how they complete the aging process: Port Wood means they completed it in oak casks that were originally used to age Port.) All three are exceptional, but I prefer the Glenmorangie 12 year old Port Wood. I would also recommend trying my favorite, Auchentoshin 10 year old. You should be able to find it out on the left coast: unfortunately it isn't distributed in the east.
