Good Morning The wife and kids are going to Grandma's house. Guess I'll clean the garage and drink some beer or maybe I'll mow the lawn and drink some beer. Maybe I'll just drink some beer

Morning, all. Looks like winter is finally upon us - we were around a toasty 20 degrees this morning.

Well, I did find myself something to do. However, I don't know why I get myself into these predicaments. I keep proving how little I know about some things. I figured I woudl test a spot on the Z06 to start since I was afraid to try it on the SS. I decided I was going to try to take out a small scratch. I figured if that went well, I would try to take a few small scratches I have in the SS. Well, I wet sanded the scratch with 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper. I was not expecting to see a very scratchy surface. Remember I told you I had no idea what I was doing!! Well, it was pretty well scratched but sure was smooth to the touch. I got some 3M polishing liquid stuff and some 3M swirl remover and spent about two hours with the air orbital polisher and the electric rotary sander/polisher. I used foam pads, then wool pads. Man oh man did I have an anxiety attack when I first washed off the spot I sanded. In the end it came out pretty good but I won't try it on the SS until I get professional training on how to do it!! Good thing I have that beater Z06 to try these things on.

Hey Dan, the Z06 is your winter beater car, isn't it? Do you have a separate set of studded snow treads for it?

No snows, I just snow shoe on top of the snow when I have to.
It really is my every day driver. The SS stays in the garage. That is why I am trying to learn how to get out small scratches. I want ot make the pain job as good as I can get it considering the SS was my daily drive for more than a year and went through a winter. A paint job just cost too much. It is addicting when you start to get to fussy about every little thing. Not than anyone here would know anything about that!!
