hey guys and gals, (sorry this is so long)

i was wanting to get the MTI clear air lid. but there might be a problem. i ordered the blue holley air filter and have already installed it. so i called up MTI and asked a couple of technical questions about their lid. the guy told me that their lids do not work very well with the holley pwr shot air filter because the molding is very thick. he said that it was a 50/50 chance of success.

my question to all of you is: out of the people who have this set up (MTI clear lid with holley filter), have you ever ran into this problem with the filter and lid not fitting properly? i would hate to spend $149.00 on a lid and have it not fit.

the main reason i want this lid is because i have a NBM SS, and since the filter is dark blue, i wanted to show it off at shows.

thanks for any feed back.

Sorry, I have the SLP lid w/the Powershot.
I do however, have a slightly used K&N f/s if the Holley doesn't work out.

There are three people in my local club that bought MTI Clear Lids....two lids are cracked and do not seal...one is fine. I think all three have the K&N Filter.

Same situation, want a holley filter (because its blue, and we have a clear MTI lid), currently have a K&N filter, just want to do a color change.

Amy, do you know if the lids cracked because of the filters? where did the lids crack/break?
do you have any pics or more info? just dont want to change filters and break the lid. so far have had no problems.

Hey, I put the MTI Clear Lid on with a Holley Powershot just before the Wilsonville Show back in September. It was a pretty snug fit getting the Lid on there, but no problems with it after that. It looks great, and no..........I don't want to trade anyone for their K & N.

I think I remember Amy saying that the cracks may have been caused by time/heat/stress on the lid due to fit, rather than an air filter issue.
Can you clarify this for us, Amy?

Hey Nate......sure, c'mon over and check it out. Give me a call, I'll probably have some free time this weekend.

And Teri.......I just might be up for a trip this fall. I'm not as well informed as most of you are on this board.......where can I find out more about Bowling Green?

Actually, i think the cracks were due to poor manufacturing. The lids were both new when they cracked. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention because I was not interested in the clear lid. I will try to get more clarification from the owners.
