I RAN A 13.6 AT 101MPH....MY VETTE WITH LESS HSP DID A 13.2 AT 100 MPH......HOW CAN THIS BE? I RAN A FEW TIMES TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN TIMES AND MPH. I SEEM TO LOSE TOP END POWER IS THIS NORMAL FOR A LS1? I THOUGHT THEY WERE STRONGER IN THE TOP END?

13.6 is not all that bad for your first runs, is yours a M6 or auto? The LS1 is strong across the range and most of the problems are associated with hooking up, how aws the launch?

I've only run a couple of times and ran 13.7 I was spinning the tires ALL the way through first and half way through second, I couldn't get any traction at all. It was rather cool that day though. The Goodyears that come on the SS aren't worth a darn for the track. If you have the tires to get the power to the pavement it will do much better.

have not been able to run my ss yet, but from what i hear, 13.6 is not that bad. practice on your launches and shifts. i would not recommend mashing it off the starting line. roll down the throttle first, then mash it in the other gears. also, i hear that letting out a little bit of air helps with maybe a 1/10th off your times. your rear tires should be in the high teens or low 20's for pressure, 19-22 psi.

i have an automatic, thats the thing i lowered the tire pressure turned off the asr and it still wasnt what i thought it was going to be. maybe when i get my new exhaust system it will help it along a little bit.....i would like to be in the mid 12's by june so i have alot to do by then. i really did spin the tires all that much and my reaction time was .95 so i know its not the launch i can see the difference in the top end mph and time. is there something i can do to program the trans to be stronger in the shifts?

if you don't mind spending the $$$, then you could buy the hypertech programmer III. with an auto, you can set when it shifts, as well as many other functions.

are you a member of the SLP board? if so, page DOC212121, he put some 35th ss sripes on his NBM SS. you could ask him if he can make them in a different color.
better yet, i have his email, i will go ahead and email him with this question and get back to you ASAP.
BTW, the Hypertech programmer III can be found at www.thunderracing.com for $339.00. but i would surf some other sites to get the best deal. also try www.ls1speed.com

Our car went 13.7 at 104mph when about 2500-3000 miles where on it. I took it out again last year with 16,000 miles on it, and could not repeat those times (slick track, would not hook up in first or second at all). Ours is a convertible 6spd, a heavier car, but yours is an automatic. I am assuming you dont have many miles on it since its an 01? The LS1 engine REALLY loosens up and comes alive around 10-15k miles of use. What did your car dyno at? I would expect around 13.5 or so if you dyno at 300-305hp. JMHO.

Doc212121 works at the Chevy dealer in the town just north of mine, so I'm pretty sure he can probably hook you up with some stripes. He's also a Zaino dealer too...
I think Teri and Steve are right on the money, you need a few more miles on your baby for it to reach it's full potential. I have less then 9,000 on my 2000 SS, but I noticed around 5 to 6000 it really started to perk up. Good luck.

Not a bad pic (we always hate our own picture) ....and Nate is right....you do have great hair! This comes from someone with the finest, straightest, blonde hair nature can give a person. I can't scare curl into my hair at all! I'm the one standing second from the right in that Bragg-Smith pic, next to Amy with the brunette hair. Look for both of us with our Navy Blue convertibles when you get to Bowling Green (my hair is more than a foot shorter than that now).
I assume you'll be going to the SLP Customer Appreciation day coming up April 20th? There are a few characters you will want to say hello to from the SLP message board. Here's the info: http://www.slponline.com/cad2002.asp

You guys are killing me. Yea, Grace looks like one of the kids, especially next to that old man with all the gray hair!! Ha ha. But I don't color mine, doh!!.
The oldest is 23, the twins are 22 (one is engaged) the next one is 20 then 18 and little Dani is 16.
We had only one bathroom until about 3 years ago. Well, one that was in the house. I got to know the vegatation behind the shed.
They are not car nuts in the same sense that we are. They love my cars and think they are cool. One of them is a service writer for Mercedes. They love to have me take their friends for a ride. Actually now that you mention it, the 18 year old wants a 68 Camaro SS. She wants me to build her one. Maybe someday. They are just now as knowledgable but they do like them.
Thanks for the compliments, I think they all look great. It's too bad that I ruin the pictures!
