Those are nice pictures. I'm seriously considering making SLP day in Vegas later this year.
Is it worth going without your car? That's a long way for me to drive and I can't take my 10 moth old very easily in the SS. Maybe I'll just fly down for the weekend.

What I have also looked forward to is meeting up with the folks that we've met through these boards, that you can easily do without your car. I would make arrangements to stay at a Hotel where other members are staying and hook up with them for the trip to the track.
Or better yet, rent a mustang when you get there, that should get you noticed!
