Hi all, I was wondering if any other owners had this worry. Only on hot days and when the engine is hot I hear a slight tapping from the engine when I'm in 4th or overdrive ( auto trans. ) and taching about 2000 or less and give the throttle a light but steady acceleration. It's only for a second or two, but I sure don't like it. I got two more months for the 12/12 warranty and I'm taking it to the dealers even though the check engine light has never come on or the preformance has not been affected!

My third gen. Camaro (305 LG4) had these symptoms due to faulty/dirty EGR valve, though usually more in cooler weather: slight pinging when torqued in higher gears. My $0.02.

Hi all, thanks for the tips. My SS is in the dealers right now being worked on. The mechanic ( who owns an SS ) thinks it might be a trans problem. Needless to say, I'm waiting right by my phone. I'll let you know what the out-come is in case someone else runs into this problem. Posts: 60 | From: Ellicott City, Md. | Registered: Mar 2002
