I posted this on SLP, but thought I should posted here as well.
I know this question is not as important as some others but ... On my 2001 SS, the antenna has a wire curling up the mast and a 1" base to screw onto the mount. Today, while going to lunch with my friend Johnnie (Cartonic), I noticed his antenna is a basic antenna (no wire curling up it) and the base is about 1/2" tall. Wonder why that is? It can't be due to the radio; I have the Mansoon Cassette w/Changer, he has the Mansoon CD w/Changer. Anybody else notice this?

I've seen that too. ...The antenna with the 'wire' wound in it is supposed to reduce 'wind noise'. GM produced a few antennas that are common across different vehicles. It is my guess that these 'ended up' on some Camaros.
