Fellas,

I just wanted to update you all on my hunt for the pefect exhaust set-up for my 01' SS. I heard a Corsa on a bone stock 99' Z28 LS-1 at the Gatornational NHRA drag strip and was very dissapointed. At idle it sounded no different than my old stock GM muffler. Revving the Corsa, sorry guys, but it sounded very weak and whinny like a rice-mobile. I really could not believe what I was hearing and asked him to verify it was a true Corsa, and he did and showed me his paperwork.

The GMMG I saw/heard(in person) in Orlando at Classic Chevy(Worldwide camaro Assoc.). The GMMG was on a 98' SS and the owner, Jim Keliher was nice enough to give me a ride too. I had such high expectations of the GMMG that I was kinda let down somewhat. Look, it sounded very good...... deep, throaty but I was expecting a Flowmaster sound on steroids. In the car at speed I was pleasantly surprised to hear hardly and interior drone. It was wierd but nothing compared to my 80 series Flowmaster muffler. I do get some drone with my Flow but the sound is so great I live with it. After going back home and thinking more about it I now feel my current set up is not bad. But I hate the ugly brown color the develops on the right side of the Flowmaster mufflers. So, I'm still undecided. I may just paint my Flowmaster 80-series muffler on the car with a high temp. spray paint and add some beefier, bigger chrome tips.

Thanks for the info. There are many of us in the same boat - trying to figure out what exhaust to put on that looks good and sounds nice and deep, not the rasp we hear from so many of the alternatives.

The LS1 is a tough motor to do the exhaust on. It idles extremely quietly.

I tried a couple of things as well and ended up running a 3" staight pipe, exiting like the V6 exhaust. It's great most of the time, but could be a little quieter in the "drone zone"

I'm waiting to hear something totally different, a SpinTech, but have not run across one yet.
