my health is very bad right now and don't know if it will be any better by the time the event comes next week. I'll finish up the cruise directions to the dinner as soon as I can and post them for everyone.

The problem I have is degenerative disk disease, where the disks narrow, like squishing a donut some. Probably half of the disks, 3 in the neck area alone are bad, are pushing into the spinal cord to one degree or another. I've had a dozen injections into the spine and they keep trying stronger pain pills, etc. The last pain control effort is a pain patch that is supposedly 100 times stronger than morphine. Well, it was killing me, making me very sick, weak, nauseous, etc. Then they try to give me more pills to counteract the side effects and I end up being taken by ambulance to the emergency room due to the effects of it. I coming down off of withdrawals from the pain patch and am back onto previous pills that weren't adequate for the job. Being degenerative it will only get worse. The only solution is probably several operations over time to try to provide relief in the worst locations. I've apparently been having severe problems for years but could never get a doctor to listen to me. Finally had to give up volleyball because the pain and dizziness was way too much and I now know what the problem was. But my last game was in the 2001 National Volleyball Tournament (men's 45+) playing against Brazil. I was back up setter but also played back row defense. I had to dive for a save and hit real hard. I saved the play and we even got the point but I was so dizzy, I could barely stand up. That pretty much convinced me, also with a doctor telling me I was insane to have been playing at all. That was a year an a half ago. But at least I went down fighting. Even a couple of the Brazil guys came under the net to congratulate me on the save.
It gets kind of funny sometimes because up until about a month ago I was trying to do some autocrossing at local events. Here is this old man (only 49 so not too old) high on pain pills, sometimes barely walking due to the pain, even a little dizzy and getting semi decent times. I was less than 1 second behind my lunatic son. Still never hit a single cone yet, I wouldn't want to mar my Zaino finish.
I'm going to try and be in BG to have some fun, it may be my last chance for a long time. If I can get behind the wheel of a car and drive, I'll even auto cross.
Here's hoping I get to meet everyone next week. I don't like to loose not even to myself, so if it is at all possible, I'll be there.
Thanks everyone!!!!

WOW I had no idea, Kevin. I can only imagine that kind of pain and the frustrations it must cause. Keep up the positive attitude and accept our best wishes for whatever comfort they can provide.

That's terrible Kevin. Obviously take care of yourself before making the trip. In all honesty it sounds like you will be there unless it is really bad around that time. A lot of people would back down from life when faced with something as difficult as you have.. but you are truly a strong person to fight to keep yourself active.. but know your limits buddy.. k?
Hope to see you in Bowling Green.
