i heard that you can change the sound of the system on the borla cat-back system. is this true? if it is, can you change it while it is installed? thanks guys Matt

Yes & Yes - it comes with various size plates you can "slip" in line that will regulate the amount of back pressure or flow that gets to the muffler.

I run the second largest opening.

I run the plate with the largest opening. There is also an electric plate that you can open and close with a switch.

does the system come with these plates? can you change the plates quickly? what is involved in installing a catback system? do i have to cut the old pipe?

Yes, it comes with the plates. There is a flange with three bolts that make it easy to change the plates. The hardest part of the job is removing the old system if you try to save it. You have to drop the axle to get the over the axle pipe off. If you are not saving the old system, just cut the pipe by the axle. It was about a 1 or 2 hour job in the garage on jack stands. Not too bad at all.
