I finally ordered the SLP Airbox lid and a K&N filter. I realize that many others have upgraded the Airlid and went with other filters. Did you notice an improvement during normal driving or more when you are pushing it? The claims are 10HP for the new lid and 5HP for the filter [Wink] . It is a cheap (somewhat) and easy mod, I was wondering if it will really be worth it..Opinions? [confused]

Good quesion from a newbie! [Big Grin] Many of us have upgraded airboxes. While I do not have any numbers to go with this modification I can tell you that we did have an increase in the way the engine responded. Keep in mind that many mods compliment others. An example of this is installing a performance airbox on an engine that has no other mods vs an engine that has say a different exhaust system. The increase on the stock engine may not be as much as the one with the different exhaust. I can tell you that in our case we had an increase in the way the engine resonded to foot imput. Any time you can increase the breathing of the engine it is a good thing.

Install the lid, follow the directions and take our time. If this is your first modification and you smile when you take it out for a test drive it is a indication that the MOD bug has bitten!!, good luck and keep it safe.

Thanks for the reply, the lid/filter should get here by the end of the week. I will let you know after I have a chance to drive it. [Big Grin]

Back to back dyno runs with stock induction vs. SLP lid and Holley filter showed gains of about 15hp...none too shabby for $150.
