Just wondering if any of you that live in the motor city can give me some ideas of tourist things to do. Im coming to town for the auto show and am taking a few personal days. I lived there for a short time so I did the obvious tourist stuff..... looking for some off the beaten path stuff. Any and all sugestions appreciated.

Not far from Detroit is the Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn and the Automobile Hall of Fame. There is Greektown that has a casino and many good places to eat. Across the border is Windsor,Ontario,Canada and there is a casino and plenty of resturants and stores there. Down the famous Woodward Ave at 10 mile is the Detroit Zoo that is open all year round. If you like to shop there are plenty of big malls within a 20 mile range.Novi (25-30 miles from Detroit) is the Motorsports Hall of Fame. [Smile]

The Zoo is a fantastic polar bear habitat there, it's worth seeing.

They are probably sold out, but you could check and see if the Wings have any home games while you are here. Alway's fun.

Hmmm, thanks for the ideas.... I've done all these already. Been to Ford Museum, DC Museum, Greektown etc. [Smile] My fav place in Greektown is Pizza Poplias, I used to walk there for lunch when I worked downtown, its tradition to go there when I goto the show. Ive been to the auto hall of fame, but not the motorsports one.... may check that one out. I'll probably make a run over to winsor for some camaro stuff. I was just currious if there are any car/airplane museums I haven't been to.... [Roll Eyes] I'll keep looking on the net and in my AAA book. I was thinking of going to holland, mi. not sure if its worth seeing. If its anything like frankenmooth it would be worth checking out.....

Pizza Poplias is a great place for Deep dish. Also for airplanes you might want to check out the Yankee Airforce at Willow run.If you are going to Frankenmuth try the Bavarian Inn Lodge 1-800-775-6343.Real nice place to stay expecially for kids and not the wallet [Big Grin] . Pools/video games/mini golf ect and close to it all.

Yankee Airforce Museum eh? I went to the old Willow Run plant a few years ago to do an inventory. Had no idea they had a Muesum at the airport there, I'll look into checking it out. Thanks!
