Did a Dyno run on my painfully stock 2002 Camaro SS today at McGee's Auto in Lake Oswego, OR with Steve Da' Wrench running the DynoJet. My car is bone stock except for SLP lid, K&N filter, and SLP cold air induction. The cold air induction does nothing on a Dyno run since the car is standing still ... no pressure build-up due to forward speed.
My SS is a T-56 6-spped with 3.42 axle and stock thermostat. Lake Oswego is at about 250 - 300 feet MSL altitude. Temp. was 67°F at 29.97 in. Hg. pressure.
Results: 323.5 RWHP; 337.2 Ft.-lb. torque. Max HP was at about 5,400 RPM. Max torque was at about 4,750 RPM. I did three runs and the MAX HP dropped by 1 HP each run as the block got warmer. Torque was essentally the same for each run.
Not too bad for a stock SS. I think GM seriously underrates the LS1 in the SS to keep the Corvette owners happy. If you assume about 15% losses due to the manual transmission, that gives 380 HP at the crank. Make your own loss assumption ... the number above are RWHP.
Another note: NATESS was there (also a 2002 Camaro SS) too and he ran 328 RWHP ... but he has a couple of mods I don't have. I forget the torque, but it was a bit higher than mine, too ... 345 Ft.-lb. comes to mind ... Nate has a clear lid, K&N, SLP cold air, an after-market MAF, plus the SLP LoudMouth exhaust. Nate, sorry if I missed anything in the intake, engine, or exhaust area.
There was also a C5 there that ran about 450 or 460 RWHP normally aspirated and about 550 RWHP with NOS. Robert's C5 is not exactly stock, but LOOKS it except for the NOS bottles. Doesn't SOUND stock, however ... so he can't really fool anyone if it is running. Awesome.

Pretty decent numbers out of the box. I'm trying to line up a baseline run for mine in the near future.

Nice runs, Greg & Nate! Wish I would've known you guys were dynoing today........I would've liked to come over with my son. Haven't seen any of you guys since last summer!
GM definately underrates these vehicles. Now as far as Robert's C5 is concerned........that thing is plain badass!

Those numbers look very good. Once the "mod" bug bites it will be hard to stop!

I second that one Jeff, I too would like to make a few pulls down at Steve's shop. Steve give us a call when you are making some more runs.

Hi all you Oregon local people. Seems Steve had an F-Body Dyno day last weekend ... but I never found out about it. Nate gave me a tip about Saturday and it was mostly Corvettes, but Nate and I managed to get into the fray about 2:30 pm or so; thanks Steve.
I think Steve and Teri give info about Dyno days in their "Good Morning" Chirpthird posts ... or you can call McGees Auto and ask when the next one is.
The problem comes when 20 people all want a Dyno day ... and both Steve and Teri go to shop on Saturday ... and only three show up . Kind of takes away the fun and makes them feel like they wasted a Saturday.
Moral of the story: If you say you want to do a Dyno run, and if a shop agrees, then SHOW UP as you promised. Posts: 67 | From: Monroe, WA | Registered: Jun 2002

Derek and SSRUS, I put you on my list to let know the next time we have one. I guess I should just post it next time too! I THOUGHT we were full the last 2 weekends though, is why I didnt post anything. Silly me! See you around!
BTW, Derek, did you still want that Canadian brochure I got at BG w/Scott's signature?

I see Greg beet me to the opening post about this topic. Had a great time. this is about the third time i have dynoed my SS. Greg was right about my mods except for the MAF was stock. but you can see my mods in my sig. My run yielded a max HP of 329.4 and a max TQ of 344.6. i am very happy with these numbers with the mods i have on my car. at first when i ran a 328 HP run, i did not believe it and ran three more times to make sure it was not a fluke. and sure enough, all three runs were within 1 HP or less of each other. the reason i thought it might be a fluke is because on the last dyno i did, i had a max of 320 HP and 330 TQ, and i have not done any mods since then. so it was a mistery to me, but i'm not complaining.
anyone in the Portland metro area who has not been on Steve's dyno should definitey try it. thanks Steve.

Hot dang, more strong SS's from the Northwest! We're all in the same ballpark...my new numbers weekend before last were up considerably as well: 325HP/345TQ
Nate, how's the a/f ratio doing?
Too bad I was busy helping friends move...I would've liked to come down.

The A/F was not that bad. i switched out the stock MAF with the Ken's stock MAF to see if that was the prob. but nothing changed, i still ran a 320 hp run. i then switched back to my orig. MAF and got the 328 hp run. ran two more times each with 329.4 and 327.8
A/F was mid 12's for the most part. was still a little rich at the top end (11.9)
Started out at 13.1 at 1500 RPM and just stedily dropped to 11.9 at 6000 RPM.
