The other day I noticed that the paint on the hood neer the windshield on the driver side hood was what I call "bubbling", but from the metal out. I took it to the dealear and they said they would take care of it, but I have a few choices to follow. One is to repaint that corner, but I think that if I did this, they would have to take it to the metal, and I dont want that. They could also order me a new hood, then repaint it. Either way they have to blend it to the surrounding parts. The only good thing about this problem is that the body shop guy said that he and I would go around the car and mark all the spots that are scrached or things like that. It is almost like a new paint job. If you guys could let me know what the best option that I should take is, let me know. If this has happened to anyone else, What did you do? Thanks guys. Matt

Is this an SS? If so, the hood is composite, not metal. Either way, have them redo the entire hood. Spot painting NBM is not the best way...IMHO. I wouldn't go with a new hood unless you have some other problem with this one.

Matt, ...as Rich mentioned, if your car is an SS, ...the hood is composite and not metal. Also, (and you may already know this, but) ...the paint on our cars is 'base coat- clear coat', the "base coat" being the color, ...and the "clear coat" being the clear. It is pretty easy to do 'spot' repairs with this type of paint, however for something as visible as the hood, ...I'd consider redoing the whole hood.

ask them to do the whole hood.... but if they refuse... I do know someone with a NBM car that had to have some painting done on his rear quarter, and you cant notice it.

I agree with the others, repainting the hood is the best way to go. Not worth getting an entirely new hood just for a paint problem. I have had mine touched up in spots and the dealer did an excellent job. Of course, I dont know how NBM compares to LPM, but I'm sure you wont be able to notice. Good luck!

I would do a spot repair and blend into the hood, if necessary. That's easier than a blend of the whole hood to fenders and fascia.
