Well, I decided since I'm about to tear the SS down to install all the goodies, that I should do a "before" set of runs on the dynojet here in Kansas City. It was a nice cool day (60-70 degrees) and so I took her to the dyno:

315.0 hp - 330.4 torque
322.4 hp - 341.9 torque

This was completely bone stock with NO mods.. not even a different air filter.

This was a pretty good result.

What made my day even better was a 98 SS ran right before me with a lid and filter and pulled 299.. I was very happy with the results.

The guy at the dyno shop thinks with my headers, exhaust, air lid, filter, maf ends .. that I could be up over 340.. maybe 350 with no cats.

Anyone else have input?

great numbers - so why is the LS1 such a big secret around GM?

With the technology the General has, and the parts bins around, I'm sure they could dream up
ways of using that engine.

LS1 Envoys? S10 pick ups? I'll just keep dreaming.... [Smile]

The 315hp/330tq run was 30 minutes before.. the way this dyno shop does it is 2 pulls back to back.. then 30 minutes of cool down.. and then a 3rd and final pull.. they said they have seen most cars make the most power on the 3rd pull.

322 made me pretty happy.. gives me hopes for 340+ after mods...

Those are great numbers for a baseline. Will be interesting to see how it is after mods. It may be that your car is already efficient enough that mods might not as good a gain as on a car that is less stock. That doesn't sound like it makes much sense does it. Oh well, it's Saturday.

I hope you get 350!

WOW! those are realy great numbers. I dyno'd my 2002 and got 309 before I installed headers and K&N FIPK intake. Now it's at 329. That was with 2000 miles on the clock. I'm going to have it tested again in April. I should be around 10,000 miles by then, and I'm curious what a little wear has done to my performance.
Congrats on a fantastic start!
