Good morning. I am a little sleepy. Stayed up to watch the OT's in hockey! Man, there is some serious hitting going on. They don't do any real hitting all year. Seems like they save it for the playoffs. Awesome.
Have a great day. Raining here. Back to the truck!

I avoided getting the IROC's right side wiped out this morning. Who needs coffee when you can get an adrenalin rush from avoiding being side swiped?
Someone in the right hand lane, approaching the light rail tracks, decided to stop for a green light. The guy behind her a ways back decided not to stop behind her, but to drive around the left of her (evidently without looking first).
Well, I was in the left hand lane and my reflexes (thank goodness) worked faster than my eyes and brain because as he came over into my lane, I made an evasive maneuver and swerved left, resulting in him NOT hitting me.
Had I stayed in my lane, the right hand side of the IROC would have been toast. It was as I was already avoiding him hitting me that I realized he was actually in the spot I'd previously been, along side of me during the swerve. I looked over and the aft end of his front fender & front half of his driver's side door was even with where I was sitting, about 2-3 inches away from the side of the IROC.
At the next stoplight, I looked back at him and shrugged my shoulders and he just waved back with a "sorry".
I would have been really pissy if that car had been wrecked.

Had I been driving our AWD Extended Astro Van.....it would have been a different story. I don't think I would have made the avoidance and recovery as well in that vehicle. Of course, being the bigger boat, the van would have provided an advantage for holding my ground and not letting him shove me across the yellow line.
Thank goodness no one was coming the opposite direction or it could have been a tangled mess. I wasn't going fast (it was in town), but I wouldn't have had anywhere to go if there had been oncoming cars (traffic was at a stop light a block away). All the pieces fell into place and it was fortunate that no sheet metal was damaged in the process. I didn't even pucker the leather!

I am glad nothing happened to your IROC Teri. I can understand the frustration you were going through at the time. Sounds like you care very much about your cars like I do. Thats a good thing. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003
