I have a heater in the garage that keeps kicking the overload on it out. Ive checked for spark, fuel and cleaned the filters. Only thing left is the electric.
There is the motor, plug, overload and a small black box with 2 leads from it.Any body have any idea what might be causing the heater to quit after10/15 seconds.Am I missing something or is there a part that should be replaced.
The kerosene heater is a Sears about 15 years old and a 100K btu unit. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give.

Ed, my Ready Heater 50,000 BTU unit was doing the same thing a couple years ago.I bought mine in 1985 and have used it for hundreds of hours. The electric motor drives the fuel pump. I have done body work on several cars and the motor probably sucked in more than its share of Bondo dust and grinding dust. I took the motor apart and cleaned and lubed all of the bushings. The fuel pump rotor halves were grooved as well and I sanded them flat so the veins in the rotor would have a new surface. The heater has been working fine now for the last couple of years. One thing that will hurt the fuel pump is if you ever let the heater run out of fuel. That kerosene lubricates the pump. Will have to try the motor cleaning today since i'm home (cough, cough) .I think the pump should be good as I had it apart and saw the kerosene spraying .

Anything slowing down the motor to cause an amp draw increase will cause the circuit breaker to trip.
