My salesman told me that when I bought the SS and wanted to use my " 6 Pack " I had to reinsert the holder in upside down in order for the CD's to play. Now mind you I haven't tried it out yet but just wanted to make sure he knew what he was talking about. This is the same guy I had trouble with getting my keyfobs - dash plaque and the 20 HP package when i first ordered the car.
Can anyone tell if this is true or do you just put it back with the play side down instead of up as he says. Thanks for your replies.

Are you talking about the factory installed CD changer? Ours is a 12 disc magazine. The CD itself is inserted in each tray with the label side down, but the magazine itself isn't loaded upside down. You might want to check your users manual regarding the operation of yours if it isn't the factory changer.
Page 3-11 of the 2002 Owner's Manual says:
quote:You must first load the magazine with discs before you can play a compact disc. Each of the 12 trays holds one disc. Press the button on the back of the magazine and pull gently on one of the trays. Load the trays from bottom to top, placing a disc on the tray label side down. If you load a disc label side up, the disc will not play and an error will occur. Gently push the tray back into the magazine slot. Repeat this procedure for loading up to 12 discs in the magazine.

You are absolutely right Teri. Code RPO U1S 12 Disc CD Changer. I don't know where I got the 6 Disc unless I got confused when a buddy of mine was talking about his in his new Silverado. Thats the only thing I can come up with.......LOL.
So then as you said the label has to be down then am I correct? Thanks again for your reply. Posts: 2841 | From: Westland, MI | Registered: Apr 2003

J/K......I read one of your earler posts. Most GM vehicles that come with the extra CD players can only take up to 6 discs. They are put in with the label side up.
Ours are put in the tray label side down and then slid into the holder. Not sure which way they go into the player though.

It's rather annoying that the discs have to be loaded on the tray label side down (makes it difficult to slide a tray part way out and see what disc it is...unless you hold it over your head). But other than that, loading the magazine is pretty straight forward...I think one side of it even says "this side up" with arrows pointing the direction you should push it in.

Ed that was a good one 6 pack = 6 pack of beers. I think I could use a cold one right now........LOL. I know where I came up with that as it was my buddy who has the 6 Disc Changer in his Silverado. He said it again today. Guess I wasn't dreaming it after all.
OBSSD.....thank you for the information. I am going to check it out and see just how exactly it works. I appreciate your reply.
Teri........Thank you for your response too my friend. I saved the address you gave me and will read up and completely check it out as well as my manual. Your help is greatly appreciated.
