I dont know if it is just my luck, or my color (dark blue), or the year (02), or the hood on my ss, but the paint keeps "bubbling" neer the driver on the hood. I noticed this about 5 months ago, and had it repainted. When I took it home, it was good as new. Today I was cleaning out the engine compartment, and when I shut the hood, I noticed that the paint was not smooth. It is at the (looking at car from front) upper right corner, where it meets the windshield and fender, but on the hood. There is no other place that this is happening. The other side of the hood is ok, the fender is ok. I dont get it. I was wondering if anyone has this problem, or had this problem, and some advice on what to do. It would also help if everyone would check their cars, and if anyone finds out that this is happening to them, but I hope you dont have it, it would help me figure out why this keeps happening. Thank you all for the help

Woody I am just wondering that when it was painted and then repainted that all dirt and oils were carefully cleaned off before primer and then the paint were applied? I am not a mechanic but I do know about cars and have watched the preparation on cars being painted or repainted and noticed that every fine detail is followed with degreasing and cleaning so that the primer and paint adhere to the car. Hope that helps you.

Not sure if this is going to help, but I had a similar problem. Bought the car used - black, 01ss - and the original owner had the hood repainted and refinished under warranty in April 01. Well, in April 02 I noticed a problem with the clear coat and a tiny bubble on the hood. Again repainted and refinished under warranty. I plan on detailing the car soon and will inspect the hood again. So far, no problems. I think that you should be covered under warranty...

It was repainted, but the orginal paint did the same thing. Yes I am still under warranty, but I think it would be a hastle if every 11 months I take it back to get redone. Maybe I should take it to another dealear? Does anyone know of a good one with a body shop in the Orange County, Ca area?

If you are otherwise happy with the dealer and happy with the paint work (aside from the new bubbling) I would take it back to them. They too will reallize that there is something more to this - contaminants in the hood material or something like that - and will probably suggest a different course of action.

I agree. Also, I do not think another dealership will be able to fix the problem under warranty. I think you might be stuck with the original dealer that was approved to do the warranty work. I was sent back to the dealership that did the original warranty hood work.

My past experience was that another dealer would do warranty work but they didn't want to touch anything to do with paint. They sent me back to the selling dealer.
