I've been invited to their unveiling of the new S60R tomorrow night. The factory rep's will be there to discuss the design & performance. It has possibilities - 300HP. It will be interesting to see what Volvo has done.

Cool ...and your corporate rules are you can "look at the foreign menu as long as you eat domestic" ?!? Sure hope you don't "fall in love".

Actually, I have corporate rules as part of a car allowance agreement. I can buy domestic or European (where our customer base is), but not Japanese. I guess it's only fair that we support our customers, who in turn support us.
You might remember that I've been looking for a replacement for my Jeep GC for some time, but I still haven't found a vehicle that I can "fall in love" with.
Here's my (current) shopping list - It's got to be unique (like the Camaro SS), it's got to have 300+ HP (like the Camaro SS), it's got to be the size of the Jeep GC, or smaller (like the Camaro SS), and have 4 wheel drive (unlike the Camaro SS ), and, oh yes, it's got to be priced right for my budget.

Awesome...who owns Subaru nowadays?? It's so hard to keep track. Soon, it will be only a few Car Corporations.
This is prolly away from what you are looking for but the WRX is mighty nice (not 300+hp but has LOTS of possibilities) Also the Lancer EVO VIII is even nicer, but that I believe is Jap. Let us know how it went!

Went to the Volvo dealer to see the new S60R.
The cars were on display, and not for test driving (that will come later).
1st impressions: - big brakes: 13" discs all round plus Brembo 4 cylinder calipers. - impressive blue colored gage cluster. - awesome seats: you don't sit in them, you wear them. - lots of front seat and trunk space. - a little cramped in the back seat. - overall good build quality. - lots of Volvo safety features. - lots of electronic toys.
I'll save drawing a conclusion on the car until after the road test. But, the 1st impressions were pretty positive.
