Went over the river this weekend for some lobster . Going across was no problem:
Customs "Where you from" Me "US" cust. "Where you going " Me "Tillbury" cust. "Lobster fest" Me "Yes" Cust. "Enjoy"
1st time it ever took less than 30 seconds to get across . It made the evening more enjoyable and the Labatts went down so smooth . Going back was a different story though . I have Never been asked "WHO'S CAR IS THIS" . This guy was a jerk every body else let through 3 or4 cars while we waited and played 20 Stupid questions.

Last year there were a few occasions that it took me as many as 6-7 hours to get across the bridge.I used to go to Windsor all of the time, but it can be a real pain in the neck! Posts: 5682 | From: Dearborn,Mi. | Registered: Feb 2002

I know what you mean. In several weeks we will be on vacation going through Canada. We'll be going through Windsor,Niagra,New Brunswick and taking the boat from Bar Harbor to New Foundland. The only good part is that the Beer tastes better across the river . Not looking forward to the lines Posts: 3091 | From: Canton Mi. | Registered: Oct 2002

I've made quite a few trips back & forth across the border over the past few months. I've crossed at Port Huron/Sarnia, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and the Detroit-Windsor bridge. The longest time was at the tunnel (I got caught in a line of 18 wheelers). Lately, there has been very little delay. I found the best time to cross is around 3:30 PM, just before the rush hour commuters. Two weeks ago, I didn't have to show any I.D. either way, and was just asked the three main questions - what's your citizenship? where are you going?, and how long are you going to stay there?. Coming back it was the three questions in reverse - what's your citizenship? where are you coming from?, and how long have you been away?. It was pretty easy (I got the answers all right ) with very little delay.

No border troubles at all for me. They usually just asked me the total value of my purchases.
If, I'm in the SS, it usually involves questions about the car. Everyone loves that ride!!
Course I have my CANPASS in the windshield. Even though the program has stopped in favour of Nexxus ti still shows that at one time I was registerd for crossings.

Last time I had the SS after the questions on the car the officer told me that it was slow and I would have to stop in and pay duty on my purchases . Said normally he would just let me go.
Who would figure that at 7:30 in the morning that they would make you pay duty on the 6 cases of beer in the back . I think he just wanted to have his buds in the office take a look at the 35TH ( /what 36th) .
