I need some suggestions. My SS has developed
a metal on metal rattle. It sounds like it's
underneath the passenger seat. Has to be a bumpy
road. I can't see anything hitting, the exhaust
seems tight. Anyone else have this.

The mods done are in my sig.

Have a great day friends. [Big Grin]

Good Morning everyone. Hope you all have a great day. Its starting out a little crisp but I really dig it. The sun is going to shine and its going to be a glorious day.

Brian I hope you find the answer to the rattle. Did you check all the way to the exhaust manifold? Just a suggestion. [Big Grin]

Brian,
did your 'rattle' begin after relocation bracket install?, ...antenna install? ...maybe you 'moved' something during that work?? ...just a thought.

It's been there for a while. I've just decided to
start tackling the problem. I've had it for years! I guess I've been lazy with it. [Frown]

Hi ya.

Brian, our IROC had a rattle for awhile. It ended up being pieces of the (newly welded in) catalytic converter. They broke up and eventually worked their way through and popped out the exhaust. [Confused]

On another note, had a HOT day at the track this weekend. One Z06 owner didn't have such a great day, but I'll let Steve and Cy go into detail on that in a new thread.

Good afternoon. Can you tell I'm off today with my late post? Just washed the SS inside and out. Big date tonight, hehe. Have a good one.

I have a similar rattle in the rear passenger side, but sounds like it's from the exhaust somehow. At a low rpm it can rattle pretty loud. Cant find anythign loose though. [Confused]

I had one similar to that. Check where the exhaust pipe goes over the cross body brace for the panhard bar. It is really really tight there and we had to dimple the bottom of the exhasut pipe to clear the brace.

hello

Brian, if it is a metal "shimmering" sound, it could be you spring under your passeger seat. just put some padding around it. if it is a much louder sound, i would check your exhaust bolts.

Good luck

It sounds like exhaust or the heat shield hitting
the SFC, but nothing moves when I'm under there
hitting it, so I think it has something to do
with the suspension when I go over a bump. I'll
get down to some serious hunting soon.

Thanks All.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the input.

Brian, hope you find the source of your rattle as well. [Smile]

Hey all.

Brian: I had a rattle driving me nuts and it was only after I got under there with a flashlight that I saw the shiny spot where the two items were hitting each other.

Thanks Daddy, I'll give that a try, my problem
is due to our climate I had the botton oil sprayed
and it's self healing, werever its rubbed off it
tends to cover after a short time. But it is
a good idea. [Smile]
