I just got done looking at my Motor Trend new car issue. There are a lot of cars I like.....most of which I can't afford. But we are still missing that one key element....an affordable performance car. The Mustang is still the only one out there unless your into 4 door family sedans "performance" cars with 4 bangers (SRT4,s, Subaru WRX, etc.)

For a 4 door GM car,I would have to say the Cadillac STS or Cadillac CTS would be my choice. At least the CTS is a rear drive car still. [Smile]

Right now I'm glad I'm not in the market for a new car, truck or SUV. Nothing out there that I can afford that I would want. [Smile]

In the can't afford category on the other hand...

I am SO with you there, I have always despised
Ford...loyal to GM forever. Recent Major problems
with GM and their lack of exciting designs
and just downright poor quality will leave me
looking at the above mentioned offerings and
possibly the 05 Stang if it looks close to the
concept car.

NOw this is an exciting car to look at...not
some jellybean...

I love that Mustang concept. I may have to buy one if they end up making them like that. [Roll Eyes]

Did the concept have/have room for a backseat? If not, I suppose it will compromise the end result.

If I was shopping for a new car for the Wahine I'd by a Crossfire...basically a Mercedes SLK with different sheetmetal and $20K less.

BTW, the spy pics of the "new" mustang show it as a larger car with more of a rear overhang than the concept car. I'm pretty sure I read that it will have a back seat...how useful it is remains to be seen, but how useful is ours?

That Crossfire is sweet! Forgot about that one, the dealer by me just got a sweet white one in with light tan interior, very nice looking!

For something I'd drive (in my price range), I like both the 350Z and the new RX-8. Got to check out a new RX-8 a couple weeks ago, and they look 10X better in person than in pics!

As for offerings from the General(other than the Z06, which is a given), the new Grand Prix and Bonneville GXP look pretty cool, if youre into 4-door vehicles, that is. At least the GXP has a V8!

That Bonneville is going to be a neat car. The CTS-V looks pretty sweet, too! If I were going to buy something (and I had a lot of money), it'd be a Silverado SS. Corvettes are always a fine choice, too.

I actually saw a new "production" Mustang when I was in Detroit a couple of weeks ago. I was at the Ford Proving Grounds getting an introduction and test drive of the new Freestar minivan. That Mustang was pretty ugly, though. It was all masked off and spotted up so you couldn't tell much. It did have some pretty small looking aluminum wheels and tires, so I would guess that it was a cheap model.

MMMM-ERT..........you have excellent taste. I love all the cars that you posted pictures of. The problem is they are all too expensive.....at least over 30K on every one. I know you can get the 350Z for less than 30k, but if you want a few options it goes over the 30k figure pretty fast. Hopefully the new Stang GT will have plenty of power and come in for under 30k. I just wish the General had given us a fifth gen so we had a choice.

Now if I needed a four door, there are many good ones to choose from under 30K. And then there are many good ones for over 30k........LOL

I do have good taste don't I... [Wink] [Big Grin]

Our SS Camaros stickered at 30K+...not that I
paid that.. [Wink] The 350Z is not that far off $$wise. Though its basically a fun
2 seater car...not real practical...at least
the Camaro was SOMEWHAT practical. The G35
is around 34K if im not mistaken and has
a back seat...not much better than an f-bod though
for the poor bastard that gets stuck back there.

Heck...saw a Bullitt Mustang last night that
stickered for 29K.... [Eek!]

The M3 is ULTRA pricey but man are they incredible
automobiles.
[Cool]

Let me see:

I do like the:

LS6/6speed Caddy CTS.
Subaru WRX STi
Mitsh Lancer EVO
Mustang Cobra
ZO6 (oddly enough the only Chevy Car I like.)

There are some others in there. But those are off the top of my head.
