I'm in need of some help, I'm told that the 2nd gear syncro is on back order until November 11th. Can anyone locate one of these or have any info on this? Our car is down for repairs and now it looks like we will be without it until November, can this be? Help....

Probably means they need all available parts for production, supplier can't supply or hasn't been able to supply parts for production or service.

Have your dealer get a SPAC case... they'll know what that means. At that point they can see if another dealer has one on the shelf and is willing to sell it. If that doesn't work they can try and get one from source.... Keep us posted. If you continue to have trouble let me know. Posts: 1045 | From: Seattle, WA | Registered: Nov 2001

Thank you for the reply, I will be talking to the dealer again today about this. I can’t believe that I am expected to wait until November for this part. This just is not fair.

I take you are waiting for a stock style synchro.
Here's a thought as an alternative. If the dealer can not get the "stock" part, then why not get a set of the aftermarket carbon backed synchro rings and heve them put in. They are WAY better than the stock ones and availability should be immediate.

Have your dealer contact Thompson Cadillac/Olds at 800-662-7420, they show they have 2 on the shelf as of yesterday, part number 12523191, 1st and 2nd gear synchro for 93-02 6-speed trans. I'm assuming this is the part you were looking for. Or are you talking about the cone or blocking rings? If you could get the part number in question, that would help out. (cone and blocking rings are available on the shelf at some dealerships too, it appears)
Crawford Auto Plaza in El Paso shows the synchro as 2 on the shelf as of 9/05. Have your dealer try them too at 800-508-8891.
Criswell Chevrolet/Geo in Gaithersburg, MD shows as having 2 on the shelf as of today as well. The number there is 888-466-9101.
Only reason I put these up is because they're showing them in stock and they have more than one of them, so the chances are good that they'll still have at least one. Get your dealer to get on the horn with these guys and you can get that part shipped to your dealer pronto.
Good luck.

I hope I was able to help. That part was what you were looking for, correct? Helping each other out is part of what we're all about here, isn't it? Sure, we may disagree from time to time, but we gotta keep our Camaros on the road, right?

It is looking like we will be getting the SS back in time for the trip to BG. If all goes well we should have it back by the weekend before the trip. (Sept 12) Not much time to get the new tires mounted and cleaned up but it is workable. SLP day is a go as we registered last night. Now we just keep our fingers crossed!! Thanks again to everyone on this board for the help and support....
