The police have new laser speed guns (or will soon). Check out page 51 in Nov. Playboy (No, I'm NOT going to post a link ). In 1/3 second, it takes several hundred readings and the beam is only 18 inches wide at 500 feet (compared to the 150 ft. beam in use now). Shooting a 18” beam at the front plate, the detector won’t even see it. At 1000 ft., your detector may sense the beam, but by then it’s already too late! Some guns have a digital camera that snaps a photo of your car and license plate, then adds a speed-time-date stamp for the judge. This allows the officer to skip court. The most advanced guns shoot through snow, rain, and windshields, allowing the officer to sit inside his car and shoot. They also indicate when the gun is being jammed or if the vehicle has a detector. Leadfoots, beware!
