I interviewed with Stewart and Stevenson right before thanksgiving, they are the company that builds the big army trucks. They came on campus to recruit a couple of weeks ago, and when they found out about my manufacturing experience, asked me to submit a resume.
When they saw my resume, the asked me to come for an onsite interview for an engineering co-op (they dont do engineering internships). Well, I drove down, and in the course of talking with their senior staff recruiter, we went over my resume, some of my manufacturing, CAD, and design experience, and I happened to mention that I have done some design projects on my own. She said that she would be interested in seeing what kind of stuff I had done, so I pulled out one of my centercaps, an OEM centerap (for comparison), and my little mini-camera mount, and we talked about that for quite awhile! Turns out it had quite an impression.
They had originally wanted me to interview for a manufacturing-engineering co-op, but after the recruiter had seen the kind of stuff I do, they are interested now in having me talk to some of their design engineers for a design engineering co-op!!!! Im going to email them tomorrow and find out about interviewing either during deadweek, or after finals. I also pretty much got the impression that they are going to offer me the manufacturing engineering co-op, both the recruiter and the engineer I spoke too seemed very impressed with my interview.
Im really excited, because this is one of the few companies that I am really interested in working for after I graduate, and they meet a lot of the criteria that I have for an employer.
Seriously, congrats FC...that is quite an accomplishment.
