Charlie has certainly got the bucks, and if he wants it, he won't be out bid. He owns some of the nicest camaros in the US. Interesting that a collector of that caliber finds this car of interest. I wonder what that says for the future of the other GMMG super cars.

The car apparently sold for $23,000 even after all the controversy over it.

Maybe he did not want it as much as the other person. At least he owns the only unrestored 1969 ZL1 that is Daytona Yellow.

Yep read about the shill bidding issue on another Board. Still seems like a pretty fair price for the car, all things considered.

That's what I was asking about.

What was the shill bidding issue?

Who was doing it?

Did eBay pull their user name?

Did they void the auction?

Hey, J.D. do you know a guy from Marion Iowa named Carl Stuber. He owns an original 69 ZL-1 and a matching 02 phase3, ZL-1 both in fathom green. Very nice guy.

Yes, I know Capt. Carl very well. He is a good friend of mine. In addition to the #65 1969 ZL1 and the 2002 #65 ZL1 SuperCar, he also owns two (2), yes two, 1969 Yenko Camaro's (one is fathom green and the other is Lemans Blue) and also a 1976 Corvette. He used to own a 30th Anniversary Camaro SS LT4 similar to yours and mine however, he just recently he sold it to a guy in Texas.

You can view his cars at the following web site.
http://www.batterytoppers.com/

Capt. Carl also belongs to the same Camaro Club that I belong to, the Mid-Iowa Camaro Club, www.midiowacamaroclub.com.

Hmmmm..........I think the simplest way to answer your question is for you to read the thread on the other board.

Hopefully this will answer the controversy questions.

Now that was an interesting post.

It just goes to show that before doing anything in public, whether in person or on the internet, you better make darn sure you know what you're doing because someone will always try to find fault. Whether or not there was shill bidding on that car, the perception is there and that perception will stay for some time. [Frown]

J.D., I met Carl at last years f-body gathering in Atlanta when he was taking delivery of his new ZL-1. We had several lengthy conversations and I did talk to him about his LT4 at that time, but could not swing it. He told me about one of his Yenko's being the only one with a certain combo of options which I can't recall right now. Really nice guy, tell him Walt Davis said hello, I'm the tall guy with the beard, I'm sure he will remember me that way.
