I've only used Nero, so I'm a little biased. It works well. One of my sons is into music big time, and he tells me Nero has a lot of options some of the others don't have, e.g. eliminating the delay between each recorded music piece.
Nero 6 is the current version on the market.

I have easy cd and it works well for me but can't say about nero have never been around it being used.

I have used nero a little bit, but Ive been using Easy CD Creator since it was made by adaptec (roxio bought adaptec out some time ago, or bought the product name). Personally, from what I have seen of Nero, it seems to be a good program, but not the most user friendly burner Ive ever seen.
As for easy cd creator, I have version 5 platinum, and its fantastic. They release update patches and drivers for the newest cd and dvd drives, as well as fixing old bugs and problems. Its very user friendly, easy to work with, and does a lot. I havent played aroudn with version 6 yet, but the latest patches and updates for version 5 include support for burning data-dvds, for backing up hard disks and files. I dont know if it can do direct copies of dvds, for that you would be best with a copy of dvd copy-x, the premeire dvd software (they are in litigation with the MPAA, so you know its got to be good stuff!).
The only thing I dont like about it is that it is not user friendly if you are creating or burning cd images, but for that, a good copy of WinISO will let you do just about anything you want.
It really all depends on what kind of work you plan on doing. What do you have in mind?

I have used both extensively. I prefer Nero, but I'd say it is for the more advanced user. It does offer more options. However, Roxio is more user friendly. Roxio 6 is leaps and bounds better then previous versions though. While Nero 5 was awesome, 6 is not quite as good, but still rock solid.
You cannot go wrong either way. I think Nero's utilities are better and their cover design software is better than Roxios, but it's all in what you are looking for.

I've used pretty much all the software out there, and I will use only Nero for all my burning needs. As long as you have the latest version with all upgrades/patches, the program is pretty sleek.
This is coming from someone who has burnt over 2000 CD's and am on my THIRD burner

I have used Musicmatch and HotBurn. I don't like Musicmatch at all. Hotburn is very easy to use.
