I have a pic of my two cars that I am wanting to have as my avatar but I am not educated enough to figure it out. Can someone help please and go slow cause I am not the greatest at taking directions. Thanks in advance, Darrell

Click on "» View/Update Profile «" on the "My Profile" page.
The "View/Update Profile" page should be displayed.
Scroll down to the "Avatar Image:" section.
Click on "Select a different Avatar Image".
The Avatar window should be displayed.
Key or copy the URL address for your avatar picture in the "Use Custom URL:" space provided. (make sure the url address is to a site where picture can be linked for display purposes)
Click on the "Set URL" button.
Click on the "Select This Avatar" button.
You should be returned to the "View/Update Profile" page.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Update Profile" button.
This should take you back to "www.chirpthird.com" page.

Ok, apparently webshots is not a site that can link images. Any ideas on a site that I can host my pic so I can have an avatar. Thanks for the info.

Also be sure that it's resized - too many times do we see someone load up a HUGE pic for an avatar. I have been guilty of it myself.

For reference, my avatar is a 'gif' file, 94 pixels wide X 99 pixels high.

Hmm...not sure how many posts you have before you can have one..just thought about that. and if it's about to accept bitmap images....i might have to change it to a jpeg tonight wehn i get home.

OK what am I doing wrong. I have followed the directions of above that JohnS has graciously provided and after I do this I have replied with a message of "test" and still no avatar. What am I doing wrong

Right click on the image & save it on your local computer drive. Then e-mail it to DanPazich for linking. Make sure the file suffix "jpg" is in lower case when you put it in your profile.

Actually I had the first pic in .bmp format which wouldn't work and that's all i can edit here at work. Got it fixed at home last night
I'm sure you're not sllllloooowwww in those Camaros!!
