People have been inquiring so here's where the project stands at this point. The images speak for themselves but here's the basic story:

The donor car arrived from California as you see it. Pretty rough but all we needed was the birdcage (with vin tag & title), doors and roof. The rest is all replaced with entirely new hand-laid fiberglass panels. The frame is 4" tubular steel built very closely to the original but made to upfit to C4 suspension. The photo of the parts waiting to be assembled includes the soon to be 500hp engine with six speed tranny. The rearend is a Dana44 3.45:1. Many suspension parts are upgraded with Vettebrakes items including all poly bushings, new ball joints, etc. Most of what you see that is shiney aluminum was once grungy junkyard parts that have been degreased, scrubbed and rubbed with loving care to make them worthy of their new task. The brakes are 13" with new Powerslot rotors and '96 Grand Sport calipers fresh from GM. While waiting for the frame to be completed and powdercoated I've been going wild buying all sorts of goodies... fun fun fun. The next step is to pick up the frame and start the rolling chassis assembly, fuel cell, plumbing and mount the engine and trans.

I'll be a lot giddier when I turn the key and fire the thing up for the first time. But yes, I am excited about the project. It just requires sooooo much patience and money, neither of which I am well endowed. [Roll Eyes]

Very nice!

Any idea on a time of completion?? Looks like you are cruising right along with it. Will you have it at BG this year?

Eh, that's pushing it... probably not. [Frown] Miracles have happened though so I won't rule it out but there's just soooooooo much more to do.

Completion date is actually June 2005.

If we can get past the delays on the completion of the frame we'd be wheeling along very nicely.

Good opportunaty to acquire the part is parts, and get ready to fuse them together later.

My garage looks like a car exploded in it . . . [Razz]
